It’s official: pets are the new kids and plants are the new pets. Spoil your dog rotten and bring them to lunch at Welcome to Thornbury, who are hosting an ultimate pup lunch in celebration of International Dog Day on August 27. The pet health company ilume has teamed up with the venue, with dogs eating free – they’ve got ‘Mutts for Meatballs; or ‘Ma, the Meatloaf’ on the menu for your pup.

What you need to know

From food trucks to festivals, Welcome to Thornbury can and does provide it all. It’s a bastion of the northside, and there isn’t a hell of a lot that the self-advertised “probably the best beer garden in Melbourne” doesn’t provide, making it no empty boast.

It is a must stop on any travel through the area and you are guaranteed to find a crowd of people and something happening when you walk through the gates to the plus sized beer garden and beyond.

If you want to share a pint with your pooch, head on down to Welcome to Thornbury on Saturday. Find out more by heading here.
