The Perth-born, Melbourne-based musician has just released his latest single and it's a doozy.

Melbourne-based groove guru Sunny Albeau’s newest single Cocaine Jane is out now. Self-written and produced, Cocaine Jane is reminiscent of 80s electro with syncopated electronic beats, layered synths and laid-back, ambient vocals.

Cocaine Jane is a dynamic precursor for Sunny’s upcoming album Random Axe of Grindness – A Cure for Funked-Up Times, which will be released in 2025.

Inspired by the likes of David Bowie, Dire Straits’, Mark Knopfler and Jimmy Smith, Sunny’s music is an electrifying medley of his greatest inspirations. Known for funky blues, electro-pop and disco-jazz, his music is not defined by a singular genre. Rather, the goal for his music is bending genres, striving for musical innovation and connecting with his audience.

“Hooked on a dangerous love affair meant many long nights in the studio grooving to some seriously funked-up times,” says Sunny, giving a glance into the story behind his upcoming album, as well as his music-making process.

The single is accompanied by a music video produced by Disco Balls Deep. Utilising lo-fi feedback and vintage video effects, they create a visually captivating video that effectively represents Sunny’s mix of traditional and contemporary sound. We can undoubtedly expect further experimentation and visionary ground-breaking from Sunny, with future music videos to hopefully come with the album.

With Cocaine Jane out now, and a much-awaited album imminent, Sunny proves to be a driving force in the local music scene. The single demonstrates great range; the upbeat synth and electronic beat bring dancability and groove and the mellow vocals and moody lyrics bring immersement and connection. With a whole album curated this way, Sunny is sure to cast a name for himself across Australia and beyond.

Sunny has aspirations to commence his album tour in late 2025 in Amsterdam’s renowned musical venue Melgweg. He dreams of not just a name in Australia, but international acclaim.

However, what sits above these dreams is his desire for sincere audience connection through exploring the human experience. Cocaine Jane is proof that there’s no doubt recognition is coming his way. Be sure to keep an eye out for Sunny Albeau, his musical journey is sure to amaze.
