Timothy Wolf is the thrilling new kid on the block

WORDS BY RIYA KIRAN

On the back of dropping his debut single, Timothy Wolf has announced two headline shows at Northcote Social Club.

Last Friday, Timothy Wolf released his debut single ‘In Your Arms Again’, blending blues and soul together in a manner that perfectly complements his stunning vocals.

The track is buoyed by gentle and restrained horns, coupled with smooth electric guitar and moving keys, however the cherry on top is Wolf’s angelic falsetto that would make even Al Green swoon.

Recorded in the tropical Byron Bay at Bernard Fanning and Nick DiDia’s famed La Cueva Studios, Wolf found his inspiration from ’50s soul and rock legends like Otis Redding, Johnny Cash and Etta James.

“It inspires me that they came from a time where they literally founded and defined the rules of balladry and songwriting,” he explained.

“I think ‘In Your Arms Again’ is pretty true to some of these classic influences whilst lending itself to a contemporary soundscape.

“The song comes from a dreamy, old soul, rosy-eyed state. I’m lucky enough for all of my grandparents to have had 50+ year marriages. This song highlights the commitment relationships like this take whilst also drawing from within my own, rosy-eyed beginnings.

“There’s also a chance it might have come from one of the weddings I’ve played trying to support my original project,” he further added.

Following an enormous debut sell out show at The Night Cat Fitzroy last month, Timothy Wolf and The Howlers, his boisterous nine-piece band, are set to step it up with their single launch show at Northcote Social Club.

Despite having sold out his just-announced show on May 6, Timothy has just announced a second show on Wednesday May 5.
