Thursday Jazz with JMQ Ensemble

On Thursday, June 5, 2025 – JMQ Jazz Ensemble is thrilled to present remarkable REBECCA BARNARD, joined by the fine saxophonist HECTOR HARLEY at the Golden Gate Hotel, South Melbourne at 7pm. Appearing with them are Tony Floyd, James Clark, Michael Harding & John Montesante: Tickets are available.

REBECCA comes from jazz royalty, with a rich musical heritage that traces back to the 1920s Kath Barnard Jazz Band. Her father, Len Barnard, made history in 1952 with Australia’s first microgroove LP. Raised on the sounds of jazz legends like Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong, Rebecca began performing alongside her father’s band as a teenager.

While Rebecca has deep roots in jazz, she gained widespread acclaim as a versatile singer-songwriter. Celebrated for her success in the pop and rock worlds, Rebecca also frequently returns to her jazz roots, delivering exquisite interpretations of classic standards. Her performances with JMQ Jazz Ensemble over the past decade have always been a treat , due to her ability to blend genres and connect deeply with audiences.

Accompanying Rebecca is an outstanding saxophonist of the next generation, Hector Harley.
This promises to be an unforgettable evening of jazz brilliance. [This gig will be on Ground Floor]
