When a genre-chameleon assembles an orchestra, things are bound to get interesting.
Tamil Rogeon is presenting The Tamil Rogeon Orchestra at The Night Cat on 18 October. The violinist, composer and producer is gathering 16 musicians for an exploration of jazz, dance and orchestral sounds that spans his two-decade career.
The Tamil Rogeon Orchestra show will feature reimagined arrangements of Rogeon’s past work alongside fresh material from his project Steady Weather. The performance brings together cosmic jazz, hip hop, Brazilian choro, orchestral soul and deep house into one multidimensional experience. Rogeon has spent over 20 years creating a diverse catalogue that includes hip hop and funk albums, modal jazz suites, symphonic poems and even an orchestral score for an AFL match.
