The new live music venue in Melbourne, Snuff Salooon, will headline electro-dub band High Pass Filter for its inaugural event. The band brings unconventional instruments including looped tape machines, conch shells, telephone receivers, air tubes and toys to create their distinctive sound.
The evening features diverse performances across multiple art forms. Drummer and composer Maria Moles will deliver a solo improvisation on a drum kit. Six Snuff Puppets puppeteers will create unique acts both on stage and throughout the crowd.
Drag artist Jetstir presents their character Rodney Rattus, described as a connoisseur of chaos and business rat with a love for red wine. Guest artist Sausage Woman will perform with a human-sized Mother puppet.
Live drawing by Chris Ferric will be projected above the dancefloor throughout the night. The visual element adds another layer to the multi-disciplinary experience.
Future Snuff Salooon events will explore different themes including The Body, End of the World and Circus, culminating in a wild Snuff Party in December.
Snuff Puppets co-artistic director Nick Wilson says the company cannot wait to open their new live music venue, Snuff Salooon, and share their love of music and art with hundreds of people.
The puppet company has entertained millions worldwide since 1992. Their giant handmade creations have generated over 1.3 billion viral video views online, cementing their reputation as experimental performance pioneers.
