Bringing together small-town spirit with a banging lineup, Macedon Ranges Music Festival is the ultimate wholesome weekender.

Over the 11 years since its inception, the Macedon Ranges Music Festival has slowly been picking up steam, without losing sight of its grassroots – well, roots. Started as a backyard charity jam in Gisborne, Victoria, the event has blossomed into a fully-fledged festival.

Now, with an Aussie rock legend as a headliner, food and drinks stalls aplenty and a new location at Hanging Rock, the Macedon Ranges Music Festival is set to deliver its biggest edition yet on Saturday, March 23.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

This year’s lineup is headed by rock and soul group Mahalia Barnes & The Soul Mates, guaranteed to finish off the day strong with effortless grooves as the sun sets in the picturesque park.

Elsewhere, find ‘Afrodelik’ band Immy Owusu, rural Victorian singer-songwriter Taylor Sheridan and contemporary folk artist Alana Wilkinson, joined by a cast of other local favourites.

As well as the music, the all-ages event offers fun for the whole family. Children run free in the grass, enjoying face painting, bouncy castles and locally-made snacks. Adults can sample local beer, wine and spirits at the pop-up Gisborne-based Mountain Distilling.

What’s more, the festival still donates 100 per cent of its proceeds to the locally-founded Cambodian Kids Foundation, aimed at empowering the people of Cambodia through education and sustainable projects, just as it has done since day one.

Completely volunteer-run and community-focused, the Macedon Ranges Music Festival is about more than the music. It’s also about uniting for a good cause, soaking in the stunning landscape and culture of rural Victoria and laughing and dancing in the sunshine.

The festival has a limited capacity, with only 1000 tickets up for grabs. Get yours here.
