This banking app is swapping purchases you regret for cash

Maybuy Exchange

Up are opening a pop-up store in Melbourne's CBD giving you the chance to swap regretful impulse buys for up to $500 cash.

Up, Australia’s highest-rated banking app, makes money easy for over 500,000 Aussies. When the Up team learned that more than half of young Aussies wanted a savings-based alternative to Buy Now Pay Later* they took on the challenge and created Maybuy.

Maybuy is a feature in the Up app that creates an automated savings plan for items you find while shopping online. It’s a fun and easy way to buy things you actually love with the money you actually have. Give your bank account a second chance. Save now, Maybuy later – it’s your path to no regrets.

Maybuy Exchange: Give your bank account a second chance

Over several days in August, Up is celebrating the launch of Maybuy by giving your bank account a second chance.

Bring in something you regret buying to Up’s pop-up store, the Maybuy Exchange, and swap it for a spin on the magical** Anti-Impulse Machine.

The machine will randomly calculate your prize and pay it into your Up account. Head back out into the world with anywhere between $10 and $500, or some of Up’s finest merch.

The Maybuy Exchange and the Anti-Impulse Machine are lighting up the Melbourne CBD between 11am and 4pm every day from Wednesday 3 – Sunday 7 August.

Have you met…

Client Liaison – musicians, artists and friends of finery – are adding the Maybuy Exchange to their tour list. They’ll make an appearance in-store. Roll the dice, choose your moment to visit the Maybuy Exchange, and you might snag a selfie.

“We’re no strangers to shopping online and the rush of buying things. But it’s often left us with ‘stuff’ we don’t really need or even want,” says Monte Morgan and Harvey Miller.

“As Upsiders ourselves, we’re stoked there’s now an alternative to Buy Now Pay Later. Whether it’s seeking out a new pottery wheel or even a new scooter, the time to ponder our purchase means we won’t lose sight of the things we’re completely in love with.”
