We’re all witnessing the current shit-storm that is Australian politics.
Turnbull and Dutton are locked in a battle of white-male egos, while Liberal ministers continue to drop like flies, handing in a slew of resignation letters. Now there are rumours swirling that Julie Bishop and Scott Morrison might enter the race for PM. It’s a madhouse, really.
Unsurprisingly, the Australian public has taken to Twitter to voice their frustration over what’s going on, launching a string of Tweets at the former Home Affairs Minister.
But someone who may have been less aware of Australia’s current political climate is this 30-year-old African American dude from Austin, Texas, who’s also named Peter Dutton.
I wish the people of Australia would look at my profile and realize I’m a 30 yr old black man before sending me tweets and DMs. https://t.co/vzTF8JeMlZ

What started out with backlash quickly turned into sympathy after people realised their mistake.
Oh, mate – I’m so sorry people are mistaking you for our toxic talking potato.

Mate, we’re sorry your good name has been tarnished. Apologies on behalf of Australia.

And now everyone seems pretty keen for this Peter Dutton to jet over to Australia and take up position as PM.
This may be an odd question…..but would you like to be the Prime Minister of Australia?

As with any smart leader, the guy knows an opportunity when he sees one, and has made the most of the situation by marketing his popcorn brand to his new-found Australian fans.
To all my new Australian friends and family, this has been more than a pleasure! Some of you asked; I’m co-owner of an amazing popcorn company in Texas, @SoulFoodPopcorn! We’ll be on Amazon in Australia one day. Stay strong, mates! https://t.co/f6s82ggHhg pic.twitter.com/EJcM7LPMSC

This is one Peter Dutton we can get behind.
