'Eye on Springfield' is a series of works by Australian based artist, Lucas Geor.
Opening tonight from 6pm at Brunswick’s own Honey Bones Gallery, Eye on Springfield is a series of 15 playful acrylic paintings by Sydney-born artist Lucas Geor. Depicting backgrounds of iconic scenes taken strictly from the ‘golden years of the show’, aka. Seasons 1 – 10 that ran from 1989-1999, Eye on Springfield is a deep dive into pop culture nostalgia. The exhibition runs this weekend, closing on Sunday September 18.

“There is perhaps nothing more nostalgic to growing up in the 90’s than hearing the orchestral theme song of The Simpsons playing in another room,” Lucas Geor states.
“By painting these scenes I not only hope to celebrate that nostalgia, but also further bring to life the backgrounds and layouts that set the mood and tone for the show during these golden years.”

Lucas Geor currently works out of Blender Studios in Melbourne. Having exhibited in solo and group exhibitions since 2012, his work has appeared throughout Australia and the United States. Describing his work as “abstract cartoon realism”, his works intertwine cartoons and illustrations with traditional painting practises.
Eye on Springfield is Lucas Geor’s first solo show of 2022, having appeared in the group exhibitions Into the Sun, Lemonade and Everything but the Kitchen Sink this year.
