There’s a garlic bread festival coming to Melbourne next weekend

Garlic Bread Festival

Get ready to go carb crazy.

Who doesn’t like garlic bread? When pillowy-crunchy bread, zingy garlic and creamy butter collide, it’s a match made in culinary heaven.

To give the iconic side its well-deserved moment in the spotlight, Welcome to Thornbury is running a Garlic Bread Festival on Saturday April 29.

Garlic Bread Festival

  • On April 29, Welcome to Thornbury will host a free celebration of garlicy goodness
  • They will be serving up different riffs on garlic bread as well as drinks and desserts
  • For the most avid fans, there will also be garlic competitions with prizes up for grabs

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around Melbourne here.

From noon until 6pm, massive Northcote beer-garden-slash-food-truck-park will be dishing out amped-up iterations of the delicious dish. This will be the fourth year of the event, which has become a favourite for garlic lovers across the city.

Starting from $5, try OG garlic bread, cheesy bacon garlic bread and Mexican garlic bread. There will also be a bunch of garlic-bread-themed accompaniments on hand, including drinks and desserts (we know it sounds kind of weird – you’ll just have to check it out for yourself).

In terms of entertainment, there will be DJs on deck all afternoon and garlic bread bingo, where fanatics can try all varieties of the snack to win and exclusive, one-of-a-kind hoodie (I bet you can guess what’s on it). There will also be a garlic bread eating relay competition – grab a few of your hungriest friends and chow down for a chance to take the win.

Entry to the event is free for everyone, but the turnout is expected to be big, so booking a table is recommended. Make sure you bring an appetite and prepare to smell like garlic for the rest of the week.
