Fed Square will transform into a vibrant showcase of South Asian culture as Blockbuster brings Pakistani music, Punjabi art and street food to Melbourne.

Fed Square is gearing up to transform into a vibrant slice of Punjab with the upcoming Blockbuster event, curated by Ayesha Bux in partnership with SalamFest. The free, all-ages celebration offers a multisensory dive into South Asian culture through music, visual arts, cinema and food, with the traditional concept of Baithak – communal gathering and storytelling – at its heart.

Music takes centre stage with several artists making their Australian debuts, spanning contemporary Pakistani R&B to traditional Sufi sounds. The daytime cultural showcase will gradually morph into an evening party bathed in technicolour lights, with immersive art installations providing a feast for the eyes alongside authentic Punjabi street food for the palate.

This RISING festival highlight, supported by MAPCo, creates a genuine cultural exchange that bridges continents right in Melbourne’s CBD. As Fed Square’s distinctive architecture becomes the backdrop for festivities continuing into the night, Melburnians of all backgrounds are invited to connect with the rich traditions of the Land of the Five Rivers in what promises to be one of winter’s most energetic free events.
