There’s a brand new autumn food festival coming to Queen Vic Market

Words by staff writer

Queen Victoria Market is launching its first-ever Flavours of Autumn Festival, a free celebration of harvest produce and autumn cooking.

Taking over C Shed on 21 March, the Flavours of Autumn Festival will see market traders and guest vendors turn seasonal ingredients into comforting street-food dishes and treats. Mushrooms, apples, pears and slow-roasted root vegetables are all getting the street-food treatment across a stacked vendor lineup.

Highlights include pumpkin arepas from Colombiantojos, a trio-mushroom toastie loaded with umami from Mr Baller, cinnamon sugar pretzel donuts courtesy of Kaiser’s Pretzels and pear and apple jam Korean coin pancakes from Lucky Coin. Over at GLO Gelato, seasonal desserts span apple crumble and fresh fig gelato, plus brookies paired with fig jam.

Flavours of Autumn Festival

  • When: 21 March, 9am–4pm

A pop-up bar will pour warming autumn cocktails throughout the day, including a Fig and Thyme Gin Fizz and a Sparkling Mandarin Sunset. Live music fills out the atmosphere across the shed.

The festival anchors a broader Autumn Series running from March through May, stacking cultural celebrations, craft markets and foodie events across the market precinct. The Indonesian Festival arrives on 28–29 March with traditional performances, exhibitions and authentic cuisine, while the Turkish Pazar Festival follows on 11–12 April with the tastes, colours and sounds of Türkiye.

Cachivaches Latin Market takes over on 18–19 April with Latin American street food, desserts, handmade goods and independent brands. CRFT*WRK, curated by the crew behind the Rose St. Artists’ Market, returns on 4 April and 2 May featuring contemporary designers and independent makers. A Swap Meet dedicated to trading cards and fan culture closes out the series on 31 May.
