The recording sector remains a vital engine of the Australian music industry, with producers and engineers ensuring recordings meet technical standards for global distribution. According to MPEG’s 2023 survey, almost 45 per cent of music producers and engineers are based in Victoria.
The same survey revealed 19% of industry professionals have concrete plans to work overseas, while nearly 35 per cent aspire to international careers but lack knowledge about pathways forward.
Research from the Victorian Music Development Office (VMDO) highlights the value of mentoring opportunities within the industry, with professionals citing valuable advice and guidance received during their early career stages.
The 2025 Fellows will gain access to mentors, studios and industry events during their UK stay, with support provided for travel logistics and accommodation throughout the eight-week program. An independent industry-based advisory panel will review applications.
Eligibility requirements ensure applicants are Victorian residents with mid-career experience as music producers or engineers. They must hold a current passport, be eligible for UK Electronic Travel Authorisation, and be prepared to make personal financial contributions toward visas and insurance.
Previous Fast Track Fellowship recipients between 2018 and 2020 included professionals from notable Victorian organisations such as Milk! Records, Pieater, Wantok Musik, Chapter Music, and Our Golden Friend, through partnerships with the Australian Independent Record Labels Association and the Association of Artist Managers.
