After their last studio album, Total Depravity, Finn Andrews embarked on a solo career and a worldwide tour. During one memorable performance, he broke his wrist on stage.
Finn’s road to recovery led him to explore unconventional methods of songwriting. With his right hand incapacitated, he sang melodies, recorded the right-hand piano part, and then added the left-hand part. It was an innovative yet frustrating process, encapsulating the artist’s determination.
“I’ve been thinking back to my younger self quite a bit lately,” frontman Finn Andrews told us back in 2019.
“There was a lot of anxiety surrounding the way I wrote and made music at the time – I definitely don’t feel like I was old enough to be properly dealing with that sort of stuff.”
This release marks an exciting return for The Veils, a band that has been consistently pushing boundaries since Finn Andrews was signed to Rough Trade at the age of 16. With six studio albums and a reputation as one of the world’s greatest live bands, they’ve made their mark on the music scene and even earned praise from film luminaries like Paolo Sorrentino, Tim Burton, and David Lynch.
Finn Andrews, now residing in New Zealand with his family, has rekindled The Veils’ magic, promising fans a memorable musical journey with …And Out Of The Void Came Love.
It all goes down at the Northcote Social Club on November 29. Grab tickets by heading here.
