The dates take in regional centres including Bendigo and Ballarat. The two Melbourne shows are at the Espy on Friday October 18 and the Brunswick Hotel on Monday November 4.

Guitarist and songwriter Stephen Iorio told Industrial Strength that he and singer Renate plan to live in St. Anton am Arlberg, Austria during the winter time, and in Copenhagen in the summer. He explained, “St. Anton is a really small town, and perfect for snowboarding. It is in the centre of Europe, and I can get anywhere I need to go very quickly. We will be touring in Scandinavia in summer, and have a good base up there.” Past members, still based in Melbourne, will join them on tour.

The Vagrants have a strong base in Europe where they are signed to Warner Publishing and released three CDs. They also make good money out of touring Europe, having done seven treks there, one of which was 52 gigs in 12 weeks.  “We have also developed a great network of small radio stations, TV, clubs, a fantastic publicist, and independent mags and internet sites,” Iorio added. “Also the network of musicians and managers that really help to put together a tour.”

Having helped many smaller acts in Europe, The Vagrants are also starting up a tour company called Indie Avenues. “We will be doing the booking, tour management, CD production, publicity, and of course the logistics of the tour including amps, vans etc.. We know bands sometimes come over with no experience touring and we want to take care of them. Like we just did for The On Fires when they toured Europe in April and May as our support band.” Iorio can be contacted at [email protected].
