Strong, invincible, woman.
After debuting at the Toronto International Film Festival late last year, a biopic depicting the life and career of Australian singer-songwriter and voice of a generation, Helen Reddy, is set to hit screens nationwide this May.
Moving to New York in 1966 with just $230 to her name and her three-year-old daughter by her side, Reddy went from barely scraping by to becoming one of the biggest superstars of her time. Fighting to make her voice heard in a man’s world, Reddy’s anthemic single ‘I Am Woman’ saw her become a leading force in the 1970s feminist movement.
Fierce and unflappable, I Am Woman shines a light on Reddy’s music and how it inspired a generation of women to fight for change. Starring Tilda Cobham-Hervey as Helen Reddy and from the producers of The Sapphires, it looks to be a triumphant directorial debut from Unjoo Moon.

I Am Woman hits Australian cinemas on May 21.
