Welcome to the world of Squids, an upcoming indie Melbourne comedy film with a irreverant sense of humour.
Squids tells the story of an unforgettable scooter adventure, three best friends who find themselves in the middle of an evil and deadly plot as they prepare for the big national Scooter Race.
If it sounds strangely vague, that’s the film’s quirky sense of humour at play. Check out the (rather hilarious) trailer below.

It markets itself as a satirical nod to classic 80s-90s extreme sport films such as BMX Bandits, RAD and Brink!
Written and directed by Ryan Zorzut (The Y2K Bug: The Web-Series) and starring Tiana Hogben (Channel 10’s Thank God You’re Here), production was completed in 2023 and the filmmakers are now seeking $25,000 for the post-production of the film.
“One thing that has been lacking, particularly in the Australian landscape for the past 20 years, is the emergence of new comedic voices in feature films,” the creators say.
“Squids showcases young talent that has been performing live comedy for many years but yet to be given a chance in a long-form narrative.”
