The Resonant Heart launch online mini-series celebrating Melbourne’s BIPOC and CALD female artists

The series will be delivered online direct from the beautiful Ok-Topia Yoga Studio in Thornbury.

The Resonant Heart – the uniquely curated multidisciplinary project that celebrates the work of an international group of BIPOC and CALD female artists who reside in Naarm/Melbourne – has announced an online mini-series, shining a light on their history and musical journey across cultures, continents and beyond.

Conceived last year, The Resonant Heart project was collaboratively developed between musician, curator and storyteller Nela Trifkovic and all the artists, and aims to navigate the quintessential themes of love, grief, joy and suffering, exploring a different aspect of these themes each year.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Premiering with a show back in March this year, the project is moving into its next phase, focusing on musical, movement and poetic exploration of dreams.

After a long time being off-stage, the artists have been imagining and consolidating their creative-rituals-of belonging, and through this online mini-series, are here to communicate more about their day-to-day creative processes, rather than just sharing their art works at the completion stage.

With the first installment kicking off on Monday, November 22, the mini-series will introduce each of the artists featured in the line-up of the project’s next major event in March 2022, delivered online from the beautiful Ok-Topia Yoga Studio in Thornbury.

Artists taking part in the series include MC Lizzie Kuoth, ensemble SARAY Iluminado Femme, movement and installation artist Elnaz Sheshgelani, multi-disciplinary artists Tariro Mavondo and Aseel Tayah, and musicians Sarita McHarg and Vahideh Eisaei.

Livestreaming directly into the intimacy of our homes at 7:30pm on Monday, November 22 (via YouTube), the first episode will see Lizzie Kuoth catching up for a sisterly heart-to-heart conversation with dream weaver Sarita McHarg. A week later on Monday, November 29, the second episode offers a close, intimate look at the musical musings and transformative journeys of the SARAY Iluminado Femme trio, with more episodes to be announced soon.

The Resonant Heart Miniseries will be live-streamed on YouTube and will remain available to watch for seven days. To find out more, head here. Tickets are available now for Episode 1 and Episode 2
