The fully-fledged event won’t be going ahead in Melbourne or Sydney this year, but Reclink has advised that “alternate events” are being planned.
The Reclink Community Cup has announced its 2021 return, however, the event will not be taking place in Melbourne this time around.
In a recent announcement, Reclink Australia confirmed events for Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra and Fremantle, but noted the 2021 Reclink Community Cup would not be going ahead in Melbourne or Sydney.

They did however indicate that “alternate events” are being planned in lieu of the fully-fledged Community Cup celebration.
The Community Cup first took place in 1997, when Triple R Program Manager James Young suggested Triple R and PBS 106.7FM join forces as team Megahertz to take on the Rockdogs in a friendly footy game to raise money for the Sacred Heart Mission.
Now, the Melbourne leg of the Reclink Community Cup raises upwards of $200,000 for Reclink Australia each year and brings crowds of over 14,000 to its home at Victoria Park.
Offering critical social-inclusion opportunities for disadvantaged Australians through sport, art and recreation programs, Reclink is one of the nation’s most established non-profit organisations. The Reclink Community Cup provides an important contribution to the foundation’s annual fundraising efforts, especially during the current pandemic, where the risk of social isolation and disconnection is even greater for Australian communities.
