This year’s Melbourne International Fringe Festival lineup is a wild, unruly beast that’s not easy to tame. From cabaret to cookouts with everything in between, there’s oh so much to see!

But if you’re looking for laughs this Fringe, Fitzroy’s Provincial Hotel is the place to be. The beloved Brunswick street bar has curated a comedy program that’s guaranteed to give you the giggles.

From October 8 to 20, the venue will host a whopping 44 performances, which means you can even catch multiple in the same night if you’re especially eager!

Plus, with dinner, drinks and a delightful ambiance, it’s a pretty prime place to spend a warm October evening. Let’s have a look at what’s on.

David Quirk – The House That Was Never Built

After his parents died and left him some land, David Quirk began to build a dream house in his mind. He’ll be heading to the Provincial Hotel to tell us all about it. Self reflective and bittersweet, this show may get you right in the feels.

Chinese comedian William Wang is touring his new show across the country, with a run planned at the Provincial Hotel for Melbourne Fringe. Quick-witted and quirky, the Raw Comedy Victoria State winner is one to watch. Catch him in this intimate venue while you still can.

He Had it Coming

Directed by Jemimah Ashleigh, this dark and devious show is an immersive experience diving into the lives of four real women who have pleaded guilty to crimes. Hosted by Femme Fatal, this show has an all-female cast and explores the mindset of a murderess.

Henry Yan’s Bored Game

Get ready to get a little goofy. Henry Yan hosts comedy game show for one night only. Comedian competitors duke it out for the grand title of Boringest Comedian. If you’re afraid of audience participation, this might not be the show for you.

Ivan Aristeguieta – The First Pancake

Every great pancake breakfast starts with the first pancake. You know the one. It’s wonky and undercooked, not quite right, but eat it straight away because it’s delicious. Comedy is the same. This is a work in progress show. With guests. It’s gonna be messy and fun!

Comedian Japanese Takashi Wakasugi has lived here for five years. Now, he’s hitting the Provincial Hotel stage with a return season of his award-winning show about all the things he loves about Australia, his new favourite country.

Suren Jayemanne is taking us back in history, drawing comparisons between ancient Eastern philosophies and the increasingly perplexing modern world. The television writer and creator and host of Good Tucker comes armed with silly jokes and a contemplative mind.

Comedian Rapha Manajem allegedly went through Tom Gleeson’s trash for a year to learn all about the ins and outs of comedy. Where did all that digging get him? What did he learn? All will be revealed very soon.
