One of cinema's most iconic fake nannies just booked a residency at the Princess Theatre.
The hit musical Mrs. Doubtfire is heading to Melbourne’s Princess Theatre for its Australian premiere from November.
Based on the 1993 film that made Robin Williams a household name in a floral dress, Mrs. Doubtfire follows out-of-work actor Daniel Hillard, who loses custody of his kids in a messy divorce and responds by doing what any reasonable person would — disguising himself as a Scottish nanny named Euphegenia Doubtfire to sneak back into their lives. The stage adaptation pairs the film’s iconic moments with original songs and new choreography.
The production is directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, whose resume spans 26 Broadway shows. The musical has already run for close to two years in London’s West End, alongside a Broadway season and international tours through the US, Germany, South Korea and Brazil. A UK tour kicks off in August.
