Good news – the Jewish International Film Festival are making up for lost pandemic time and are putting on a second iteration for this October and November. Opening on October 24 with the acclaimed film Armageddon Time (tickets include a stuffed pita pocket, drinks and live music – how could you say no). The Jewish International Film Festival runs across Classic Cinemas and Lido Cinemas from October 24 until November 27 in Melbourne.

Having just premiered at Cannes Film Festival 2022, Armageddon Time is the opening night film that features a stacked cast including Anthony Hopkins, Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong. Drawn from the childhood experiences of director James Gray (Ad Astra), Armageddon Time is a deeply personal coming of age story about the strength of family and the generational pursuit of the American Dream.

Other highlights of the festival include the portrait of a dysfunctional Jewish family in As They Made Us, the directorial debut from Mayim Bialik. Additionally, 1341 Frames of Love and War beautifully compiles images taken by the acclaimed photojournalist Micha Bar-Am over more than 50 years of his career. Catch the film adaptation of best selling novel The Accusation (Les Choses Humaines), a powerful exploration of class, sex, truth and consent.
