California five-piece The Internet has quickly become a standard for modern soul and funk. Latest album Hive Mind is no exception, and is another classic chiller for you to play as a soundtrack to anything you’re doing that you want to feel 300% cooler about.
‘Roll (Burbank Funk)’ is a fantastic example of everything The Internet do best. With a catchy bass hook, some smooth synth, and a rhythm you can’t help but move with, the band put forward their case for being responsible for releasing the most infectious music we’ve seen in a long while.
The album carries on with tracks like ‘Come Over’ and ‘Bravo’, and if by this point you haven’t at least started wiggling your hips then you might have an issue. The bass work by Patrick Paige II is second to none, and it’s worth listening to the album at least once through with just a focus on the magic of The Internet’s use of the bass clef in general.
A great album to listen to, dance to, or have in the background to make everything seem funkier, Hive Mind is another album of the highest quality, and hopefully The Internet have plenty more to come.
