Showcase your talent as a young filmaker…and score some sweet prizes!

Fancy yourself as a bit of a film making extraordinaire?

The Hillside Film Festival is giving young people the chance to express themselves through film, and to showcase their artistic and creative talents in a competition that will captivate audiences state wide in 2011.

The festival encourages filmmakers with all kinds of styles, genres and budgets to apply, and will this year be launching a music video category. To enter, you have to be aged under 30, hail from Victoria and have a film that goes for 15 minutes or less.

Screened at the idyllic Cameo Outdoor Cinema in Belgrave, the event was a sell out in both 2009 and 2010, and the festival continues to establish itself as a major and pivotal cultural event in Australian film and cinema.

Winners of the comp will score $1,000 cash from The Upwey & District Community Bank Group and a prize pack from Madman Entertainment, while the winner of the Under 18 Category will earn a place in the Open Channel Young Filmmakers Holiday Workshop. Selected films will also feature on the small screen, presented on Foxtel’s Aurora Community Channel as part of Youth Week 2011.

So crack out those cameras, entries close November 30.
