The deal struck will see the venue taken over be Sand Hill Road – the same owners of pubs including the Terminus Hotel, Prahran Hotel and more.
According to The Age, the new owners are committed to revitalising the 139-year-old venue, including a return to form for its live music programming.
While plans for a 145-square-metre rooftop have been quashed after garnering concerns of noise complaints from locals, rumours are circulating that a sprawling beer garden will take over the entrance of The Espy.
Over the course of its long-spanning role as a live music hub, The Espy has hosted countless acts from both Australia and overseas – marking its place as a hub for emerging rock acts.
