The epic Cable Ties Ball is back for 2019

Cable Ties have announced a second installation of their hugely successful 2018 event, The Cable Ties Ball, which emerged as a result of Cable Ties winning the Corner Hotel Award for their self-titled debut album. The night was an ode to immense music and community, and – unsurprisingly – has been given the green light to go down all over again. The ball is taking over Richmond’s Corner Hotel for Saturday 23 February 2019 from 6.30pm until 3am.

When we say this lineup is stacked, we’re not joking; nine amazing acts will grace both of the Corner’s stages, conjuring up head-banging tunes and groovy tracks to bring you through to the wee hours of the morning. Cable Ties will be hosting the event, with Jenny McKechnie, Nick Brown, and Shauna Boyle acting as your guides through a night of suiting up, setting out and getting down.

Audiovisual two-piece friendships will perform a rare live set, following a year spent writing their second album. Rapper P-Unique, who’s gearing up to release her debut EP Bring Black Back, will bring her bumping beats to shake the very foundations of Richmond.

Appearing to grace you with a taste of rock’n’roll amidst tech-heavy sets, Brisbane veterans HITS will no doubt be throwing it all the way back to when they first performed with Cable Ties at The Tote many years ago. The lighter, more “rosé rock” band Porpoise Spit will also bring their tragically queer anthems to the stage.

International sounds are making their way in as well, with New Zealand “guitarless guitar band” Wax Chattels making an appearance. Having met Cable Ties at a BIGSOUND party this year, no doubt they’ll be ready for a bender.

In the words of Cable Ties themselves, “it ain’t no party without a few bangers thrown in”. With that in mind, DJ Airhorn Mami, Sullivan, and Paul Gorrie will guide you late into the night using choons that will certifiably get you boogieing like it isn’t 2.30am on a Sunday.

Cable Ties know that community is worth celebrating, and naturally encourage you to do so in style; suit up and boot up for a night of great music and killer MCs. This is a ball, after all.
