The Bullet Holes : Destroy The Fables EP

The Bullet Holes are a ‘power three piece’ alternative rock act from Perth. They’re not trying to re-invent the wheel, and wear their influences pretty plainly on their sleeve.

The Bullet Holes are a ‘power three piece’ alternative rock act from Perth. They’re not trying to re-invent the wheel, and wear their influences pretty plainly on their sleeve. But nevertheless, it’s a fun sound and this independently released five track EP is very nicely packaged and well put together overall.

Traces of acts such as You am I, The Clash and even Elvis Costello can be heard in The Bullet Holes’ sound, as well as several other elements, and all up it makes for a pretty diverse five track collection. There’s a big fat raunchy shuffle groove in the form of opener Tear It Up, a bluesy slow-burner (All We Are), a balls-out but still dynamic rocker to close proceedings (Losing My Mind), which also features some nice bass and guitar interplay, plus more, and it’s an enjoyable and entertaining ride. And it’s all ‘stick in your head’ catchy too.

The musicianship is simple but assured, and the sound is clear and punchy. The band definitely know what they’re doing, and are well aware of how best to execute it.

The Bullet Holes aren’t going to change your life, but that’s far from the intention. If you like ‘accessible’ alternative rock, you could do a lot worse than grabbing hold of a copy of Destroy The Fables.
