The Blowers’ Blowmania: Hospital-prone fans, drug love, anxiety and hate-fuelled duets

Melbourne punks Blowers are back with their third album Blowmania – a "raw and ferocious blast of garage punk" dropping next month.

Keep your eyes peeled, Australian dates will be announced soon…

The four-piece have doubled down on their trademark intensity, cranking up their buzzsaw guitars and adding synth layers for a record that promises to be their most unhinged yet.

Blowmania follows up from the band’s self-titled 2021 debut and 2023’s Blown Again, with this latest offering engineered and mixed by Julian Cue (Street Sweeper, Gut Health, Civic, Screensaver) and mastered by Mikey Young.

Lead single Tony’s In Hospital Again has already landed with a freshly released video, setting the tone for an album that deals with “hospital-prone fans, drug love, anxiety, lifestyle choices and hate-fuelled duets.”

The 11-track collection opens with Wasted On My Own and closes with the cheerily-titled Everybody In This Room Hates Me, with the band describing it as “one wild ride of a record” that sees them “returning to form and upping the ante.”

Drawing inspiration from The Reatards, The Spits, and Wipers, Blowmania channels what the band calls “the untamed spirit of punk at its most chaotic and unapologetically loud.”
