Frontman Patrick Carr’s poignant lyrics speak to the overwhelming sense of being utterly lost in today’s chaotic world, where personal struggles can leave you feeling like you’re standing alone in the dark. The band’s signature blend of pedal steel-infused melancholy creates the perfect soundscape for this emotional journey.
Deer in the Headlights reflects the quiet desperation for help and understanding from those we care about most, offering a sense of solidarity in the face of emotional distance.
Already scoring airplay across multiple stations including ABC Country, Swinging Doors on PBS FM, 5 Feet High And Rising on PBS FM, Crack of Sparrows 4ZZZ, Rhinestone Cowgirl, Australian Country Radio, and 2SER’s Dirt Music, the track is rapidly gaining traction nationally.
The Northcote-based five-piece – featuring Patrick Carr (vocals/acoustic guitar), Matt Rodd (lead guitar/vocals), Tom Bob Rodd (bass/vocals), Ed Bates (pedal steel), and Dave Major (drums) – recorded the single at Gold Dust Studios, with Matt Rodd handling mixing and mastering duties. The release features distinctive sketch art by Patrick Carr.
