The best of R&B, hip hop, reggaton and house this Labour Day long weekend in Northcote

Bar61

Northcote’s family-owned local, Bar61, is throwing it back this Labour Day weekend with a DJ flaunting the best hip hop, R&B, house and reggaton on a new-and-improved dancefloor with all night long happy hour.

Bar61 boasts a grouse split-level venue that’s smack-bang in the middle of Northcote and as a result, a perennial fixture in the suburb’s ever-growing party scene.

They’re also a popular private function venue with four spaces and a lovely beer garden with a retractable roof. They cater for all functions ranging from hens/bucks parties, weddings and engagements, to birthdays or a casual group gathering. For a great price this includes a private bartender and your own choice of music.

Check out Beat Eats for the latest Melbourne food and booze news.

They’re well-regarded for their creative take on cocktails such as the twist on an original espresso martini (created with butter vodka and hints of salted caramel and popcorn for those who have a sweet tooth) or for those wanting to get spicy, they have the El Picante Margarita with delicious jalapenos. They even like to get innovative with tiki cocktails and mini cocktails in a shot, such as the infamous jam donut shot (yes, that’s right – it tastes like a jam donut, but it will give you a buzz).

This weekend (and many more to come) the Bar61 crew will be turning the northside suburb into a party like no other with great drink specials and music for everyone to dance the night away.

Plus enjoy the best of Colombian street food as Berbeo Bros takes over the kitchen every weekend, ranging from great sharing platters, empanadas, exotic mini potatoes, Lechona (a famous family recipe, stuffed pork with rice and condiments, which is slow cooked over 10 hours), Colombian style hot dogs and burgers and much more you’ll need to check it out for yourself!

It all goes down Saturday March 12: DJ from 9pm to 1am spinning old school favourites across four spaces, ranging throughout the venue. Tickets are a handy $5, which gets you a shot on arrival and drink discounts, there’s even unlimited drinks option available for $80 (9pm – 12am) Tickets available at the door or on Eventbrite.
