On their newest single, Duerme, the Melbourne heavy-rockers explore vulnerable feelings of self-doubt and second-guessing.
Translating to “sleep” in Spanish, Duerme represents the relief point where rest becomes the only sanctuary from the uncertainty of music and writing.
Duerme is a fierce yet haunting return for the queens of emo rock, The Beautiful Monument. Featuring honest lyricism and a powerful delivery from vocalist Lizi McIntosh.

“In my sixteen years of being part of this community, I’ve encountered so many wonderful and encouraging people. But, just like all things in life, where there are positives, there are always negatives,” said McIntosh.
“Unfortunately, being human with emotions, you tend to fixate on the things that deflate you. Duerme is definitely something that everyone can relate to on some level — whether it’s schooling, crafting, relationships, or whatever it may be. It’s tough, and it’s an extremely difficult mindset to try to move on from, no matter how many people tell you otherwise.”
The band—consisting of Lizi McIntosh (vocals), Amy McIntosh (bass), Alex Manhire (guitar), and Adam Pinzone (drums)—has quickly distinguished itself by crafting anthems for anyone who has ever felt beautifully broken, with their sonic cocktail of pop-rock, alt and metalcore.
The single has been released ahead of a new tour, where they will play main support for Sydney rock band Redhook on their Breaking Up With Tour. Beginning next week in Canberra, the tour will visit Jindabyne, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane through September.
The group made waves last August when they played arenas throughout Australia as the main support act for gothic rockers Evanescence. They have previously toured across the country alongside international acts such as Escape The Fate and Sleeping With Sirens.
Duerme is out now and streaming everywhere. Make sure to catch The Beautiful Monument on tour with RedHook next week through September!
