The Beatles: Back2Back

So popular, in fact, that they chose to give up playing music in the live setting due to unmanageable levels of feverish squeals they endured at every show.

Instead, they chose to head into the studio create a concept record under the guise of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. A record that, at the time, couldn’t possibly be performed live. A few years later, they bid farewell with arguably their most accomplished record, Abbey Road.

While it’s still the case that these records couldn’t be pulled off live with just four blokes and a few guitars, it most definitely can be pulled off with six of Australasia’s finest rock voices, backed with a 17-piece backing band to boot.

Mark Seymour, Irwin Thomas, Shihad’s Jon Toogood, Thirsty Merc’s Ray Thistlethwayte, Hungry Kids Of Hungary’s Dean McGrath and Trial Kennedy’s Tim Morrison will belt it out Sgt. Pepper’s and Abbey Road back to back with the help of strings, horns and sitars.

Will we see Jon Toogood crowdsurf upon a Sgt Peppers emblazened bass drum? Only time will tell.
