Hear My Eyes presents Terminator 2: Judgment Day with a brand new live score at Hamer Hall from 26 to 28 February.
The 35th anniversary screening transforms James Cameron’s sci-fi classic through Belgian electronic music producer Peter Van Hoesen’s original composition and Robin Fox’s laser choreography. Hear My Eyes has been developing this project for over six years, marking the collective’s 21st original production set to a feature film since launching in 2015.
The new interpretation doesn’t replace Brad Fiedel’s iconic score but offers a contemporary lens through which to experience the film’s themes of technological anxiety and human resilience.

Peter Van Hoesen brings his cerebral, bass-heavy electronic sound to the re-score, creating an entirely electronic composition that moves away from traditional orchestral approaches. The Belgian producer, live performer and sound designer will perform alongside the Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio Synthesiser Orchestra, transforming his typically solo set into an expansive ensemble piece using rare vintage synthesisers and modular systems. Van Hoesen’s hardware-driven approach blurs boundaries between human intuition and machine precision, capturing the human-machine dialogue at the heart of Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Robin Fox’s laser art transforms Hamer Hall into an immersive sensory environment, creating volumetric space that extends the film’s groundbreaking digital effects into the physical venue. His laser choreography builds a visual bridge between the film’s world and the audience, dissolving the boundary between viewers and artificial intelligence. The combination of Van Hoesen’s dynamic electronic landscape featuring seismic rhythms and cybernetic soundscapes alongside Fox’s laser brilliance elevates the experience beyond traditional film screening.
