Favourites of the local live scene, Quarter Street are taking their high-octane jams to Thornbury.
Bringing together sounds from the streets of Havana, Puerto Rico and 1970s New York, Quarter Street fuse Latin and world music with funk and soul to create contagious rhythms and electrifying beats.
Having showcased their talent at the likes of WOMADelaide, Brunswick Music Festival and the Australasian World Music Expo, the ensemble will now bring their larger than life sound into a more intimate space when they visit Swamplands this weekend.
With a tight rhythm section and infectious groove to spare, Quarter Street have spent the past nine years becoming mainstays of the music scenes in Melbourne, Brooklyn and London. Regulars at Fitzroy’s house of groove, The Night Cat, Quarter Street are setting their sights a little further north for what is set to be a very special performance.
Making their Swamplands debut, the outfit will showcase their award-winning sound as they remind Melburnians how they came to be favourites of the local live scene.
Catch Quarter Street at Swamplands on Saturday January 18. Grab your tickets here.
