Since 2003, the talent development program aims to provide aspiring Australian musicians with a guided pathway into the music industry.
This year’s six Melbourne heat entrants are Eliza Hull who has toured with the likes of Owl Eyes and SAFIA and had her music featured in an American TV show, Newcastle-turned-Melbourne native Beth Brown who has spent the last decade performing, 2009 Queenscliff Music Festival Foot-in-the-Door competition winner Anna Smyrk, 2011 Queenscliff Music Festival scholarship recipient Izzy Losi who has supported the likes of Husky and Dean Geyer, Brooke Russell who just recently returned from the 2014 Americana Music Festival and North Fitzroy’s Sophia Walters.
The winner of the Melbourne heat will then join 15 other hopefuls from across the country at a three day music mentoring boot camp in October. Two aspiring musicians will win a $15,000 music development fund and a trip to the United States to perform at the Americana Music Festival. The two winners will also receive ongoing opportunities including local gigs and education to help kick-start their music career.
