Tedx Melbourne: Community And Youth

TEDx is coming to Melbourne with a formidable lineup of speakers.

Geeks and knowledge-hungry nerds rejoice! TEDx is coming to Melbourne.

TED comes from Long Beach and Oxford and is a small non-profit organisation dedicated to ideas worth spreading. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design and their talks are inspiring, interesting, entertaining and just plain smart.

If you’ve got a hankering for learning, TED is where people who are bored with institutions and essays end up… late at night, watching TED on Youtube.

TEDx is an independently organised TED event – but that doesn’t make it any less good. This session brings a diverse group of speakers and performers together to talk about Community and Youth.

The speakers are Andrew Macleod (CEO of the Committee For Melbourne), Jan Owen AM (CEO at The Foundation For Young Australians), Mike Penrose (Director for Emergency Programmes for Save The Children), Elliot Costello (initiated an international volunteer project which led to the formation of YGAP – Y-Generation Against Poverty), Tania Major, Lucinda Hartley (Community Oriented Design), Adam Jaffrey (Anti-Violence Evangelist for Step Back Think), Steven Persson, Amanda McKenzie (National Director of the Australian Youth Climate Coalition), Chuck Berger (Director of Strategic Ideas at the Australian Conservation Foundation), Kumari Middtleton (dancer), Phunktional (dancer), Radhey Gupta (sitar player), Dig Deep and Emilie Zoey Baker (poet).

It happens in Melbourne on Saturday November 20 at The State Library Of Victoria and registration opens soon. Keep your eye on tedxmelbourne.com.

Here’s a TED talk we love.
