Ahh, the truffle. A little lump of black gold, packed to the nines with flavour – our reward for making it to the end of winter.
At the Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne’s premier destination for local produce and culinary delights, August is all about the truffle.
This year, nestled among the busy events calendar, the market is hosting two terrific truffle events, celebrating the funky fungi in all of its glory.

This year, for the first time, the market is holding a special four-day pop-up dedicated to the truffle. Running from Thursday, August 1 to Sunday, August 4, the Truffle Treasures tasting event gives visitors the chance to wander through the market and sample rich and decadent delights.
Happening in the Deli Lane, there will be oodles of truffle-infused snacks to sample, including truffle salami, truffle butter, truffled cheeses and more.
Highlights include truffle gnocchi, truffle burrata and truffle-filled cannolis from That’s Amore and Cannoleria, truffle-infused crepes with garlic mushrooms and truffle butter or caramel apples and truffle honey from Le Gourmet Lemon and RIPE Cheese’s crowd favourite truffle toastie.
For something sweet, head to Creme Brûlée Donuts for a truffle-infused take on their signature dish. Try a donut with a luxurious truffle-infused custard centre or a Nutella centre and black truffle dusting.
The Ultimate Truffle Tour, happening on Saturday, August 3, takes visitors on a two-hour trek through the market led by a leading truffle enthusiast. Guests will learn more about what makes the truffle so special and the truffle farming practices we have here in Victoria.
They’ll also have the opportunity to try out some of the market’s finest truffle offerings, including truffle oil, truffle pasta and everything in between. Tickets to the truffle tour are on sale now.
