Name/Band:

“System Of Venus.”

Define your genre in five words or less:

“Moody rock/stoner/metal.”

How long have you been gigging and writing?

“The band have been gigging and writing for around a year.”

What has been your favourite gig you’ve played to date?

“It would have to be a gig we put on at The Tote in January this year. All the bands were quality and everyone who came to the show seemed to have had a good time.”

Which band would you most like to have a battle/showdown with?

“We would get absolutely flogged… but for the sake of meeting them – Kyuss, Alice In Chains, Melvins, Kylesa, Tool, Hole, Soundgarden, L7, Nirvana, Mudhoney, Placebo, Mastodon all mashed into one big battle.”

What inspires or has influenced your music the most?

“Other bands. The opportunity to play live shows. Searching for the sounds we want to get out of the instruments we play. Being able to throw a range of moods into songs. The processes we go through when trying to understand why people do the things they do.”

What do you think a band has to do these days to succeed?

“Enjoy their music whether that music is played in a backyard shed, a local pub stage or a massive show arena.”

Do you have any record releases to date? What? Where can I get it?

“We’re in the middle of organising a recording of our debut EP which we should be releasing soon. At this stage, the EP will only be available at our shows around October onwards but check our facebook page for updates (facebook.com/systemofvenusmusic).”

Why should everyone come and see your band?

“So that we can see everyone.”

When are you playing live/releasing your album/EP/single/etc?

“Our up and coming gigs include Friday July 8 at Yahoo Bar in Shepparton and Thursday July 14 at Blue Tile Lounge, Collingwood (supporting Moth during their July residency).”
