San Diego rock quintet Switchfoot are returning to Australia this Easter to performer at Eastland Shopping Centre as part of their 2011 world tour.

Formed out of a mutual love of surfing (hence the name) and rock music, Switchfoot began playing in 1996 and have since travelled around the world.

Originally a success in the Christian rock scene, they gained mainstream recognition when four of their songs were featured in the 2002 movie A Walk To Remember.

They have since released a number of albums, with their album Hello Hurricane winning a Grammy Award this year for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album. This world tour also coincides with Switchfoot’s latest release Vice Verses, their eighth studio album.

Now, Bridge Builders Youth Organisation have planned for the band to perform, offering young people the opportunity to develop their skills in event management and business.

The concert will be held on Good Friday, April 22, at Eastland Shopping Centre’s rooftop car park in Ringwood. US band Emery, as well as Melbourne’s own electro-rock trio Innerspace will support Switchfoot from 6pm.

Tickets are available now via Moshtix for $35+BF. All ages.
