DJ Seinfeld has been one of the most intriguing in electronic music in recent times. Yet, over just a few short years, the artist otherwise known as Armand Jakobsson has defied expectations, not only within the ‘lo-fi’ scene he briefly, inadvertently helped define, but across the wider spectrum of electronic music.
As well as releasing one of 2017’s most-celebrated debut albums, ‘Time Spent Away From U’, he’s proactively flexed his creative impulses, utilising a number of not-so-secret aliases to explore the margins of jungle, techno and ambient. This all-encompassing approach resulted in Jakobsson becoming one of the youngest ever artists to be invited to curate an entry into !K7’s legendary mix series, DJ- KiCKS, which boasts past editions from Actress, Nina Kraviz and Moodymann.
The Swedish producer released a slew of singles in 2022 in ‘Lost Island’, ‘Never Gonna Get It’, and ‘It’s All So Incredibly Loud’, the first new music since the release of his critically acclaimed 2021 album Mirrors, which propelled Armand to new levels receiving praise from The Guardian, RA, Billboard, The Fader, DJ Mag, Clash, XLR8R, Mixmag (who also featured Seinfeld as their 2021 July cover star) and Pitchfork who said “It’s easy to imagine many of these songs soundtracking humongous outdoor festivals, perfectly synchronised with the setting sun”. Radio support came from the likes of Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Jack Saunders and the Blessed Madonna.
Since the release of Mirrors last September DJ Seinfeld has taken his impressive Mirrors Live tour on the road, including a triumphant debut sell out show at London’s EartH, sold out stops across Europe and North America (which lead to Mixmag to vote him as their #2 Live Act of 2021), Falls Festival dates across Australia and performed at the iconic London venue KOKO, which sold out five months in advance.
It all kicks off from 9 pm at The Industrique in Coburg North. Tickets can be purchased here.
