Sunset Sounds – The Bamboos

Chill out to the second Sunset Sounds concert, featuring a headline performance from The Bamboos, supported by far north Queensland futuristic soul trio Izy with PBS DJ Ella Stoeckli spinning tunes from 5pm.

Across ten albums, Melbourne nine-piece The Bamboos have been recognised worldwide as masters of reinventing Soul and Funk, placing modern songwriting within classic arrangements and production. The band connects to genre purists as much as casual music fans by focusing on what is important – music, groove, and powerful vocals.

With six ARIA nominations The Bamboos are one of Australia’s leading funk and soul acts who have collaborated with musical giants including Aloe Black, Daniel Merriweather, Alice Russell, and Durand Jones.

Izy plays slinky, futuristic soul music with raw old-soul sensibilities. All instruments, no computers, pulling in all the influences from Prince to D’Angelo to Alabama Shakes. In their music, an indisputable quality of dedication, honesty and diversity is clear. An undeniable positive energy surges through their presence on stage.
