Sunbury Music Festival is back, and it's bringing eight hours of live music to The Nook on 18 April.

Picking up where the iconic Sunbury Pop Festival left off, Sunbury Music Festival is planting its flag as a proper north-of-the-city institution.

For those who need a refresher, the original run from 1972 to 1975 was the kind of era-defining moment Australian music rarely sees; AC/DC, Billy Thorpe, Queen and Skyhooks all graced that stage before it became the stuff of legend. That history isn’t just nostalgia either; it’s the foundation that makes this festival mean something beyond a standard weekend gig.

This year’s lineup is genuinely stacked.

Marcia Hines headlines as Australia’s undisputed queen of soul, joined by Rogue Traders featuring Natalie Bassingthwaighte bringing their pop-rock energy, and triple j favourites Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers rounding out the top of the bill. But the fun doesn’t stop there, Aussie R&B legends The Badloves, indie country singer-songwriter Ruby Mae, and jazz/rock fusion eight-piece JAZZPARTY fill out a bill that really does have something for everyone, whether you’re 16 or 60.

With gates swinging open at 1pm and entertainment rolling all day, this is a proper full day out; affordable, all-ages, and rooted in real local pride.
