Strange Talk Release Debut EP

Melbourne pop group Strange Talk will release their debut EP April 12 before touring Australian this May.

Imagine “a star-crossed marriage of Phoenix and Passion Pit” and you get Melbourne pop group Strange Talk. Well, that’s how American culture site Flavorpill described the band and it’s not long before the word spreads with their debut, self-titled EP release on April 12.

Strange Talk was born out of the odd mix of classically trained violinist Stephen Docker, now their vocalist, and their bassist, the electro/house influenced Gerard Sidhu. Joined by Travis Constable on drums and guitarist Gillan Gregory the band was able to work with UK producer Eliot James (Two Door Cinema Club, Bloc Party), on their first single, Climbing Walls

Climbing Walls was picked up by triple J and they were asked to play at Parklife Melbourne as part of triple J Unearthed. The song also began to appear internationally, from America to France. Finally the band also was noticed by the NYC/London based Neon Gold Records who are responsible for producing singles for Gotye, Marina and the Diamonds, Passion Pit and Ellie Goulding

With this collaboration Strange Talk’s album will be released in Australia through Fine Time Records, and overseas with Neon Gold before the band tour Australia in May this year.

Strange Talk will be performing in Melbourne on Friday May 6 at the Northcote Social Club. Tickets are available through the venue’s website.
