Stephan Bodzin, Luna Semara and Gumm to play smalltown’s latest event

Stephan Bodzin
words by kaya martin

Quickly climbing the ranks as one of the best local party series, smalltown is back with another banger.

The just-announced smalltown party will take place at the Melbourne Pavilion on January 6. Gear up for a day of thudding bass and non-stop techno from a curated selection of local and international artists.

smalltown is gaining a reputation for bringing some of Germany’s best talent to Melbourne, so if you’re feeling nostalgic about your gap year in Berlin, this may help to scratch the itch.

Techno-trance artist Stephan Bodzin is a do-not-miss of the night. A classically trained musician, Bodzin is known for throwing a thrilling and unpredictable live set. Boavista, his latest release, has a bright and colourful sound that’ll be the perfect soundtrack to a mid-summer sunset.

Luna Semara, another German native, will be making her Australian debut at the smalltown party. With French and African roots, she’s a synthesizer warrior who’s not afraid to fuse global sounds into her groovy beats. If she doesn’t get you on your feet, no one will.

Also taking over the decks throughout the day will be Gumm, Blakc Dave, Emma Renée, MINA b2b Huey Madden, Mordi, Tyff and Wolftrax.

Up near Royal Park, the Melbourne Pavillion will make for a memorable location. Expect loud music, flashing lights and good times. And if you just can’t get enough of the fun, don’t fret – they’re throwing another event, featuring Sven Väth and the Adana Twins, just a few short weeks later.
