On Saturday December 17, she and her band will take the stage at the Brunswick Ballroom for an end-of-year bash that’ll set the mood right for a cruisy Christmas season.
Emma Donovan is a tried and true performer who knows exactly how to move a crowd. She started her singing career at the age of seven as a member of her uncle’s family band, the Donovans. After being recognised for her talent at an early age, she then went on to pursue an education in contemporary music at the Eora College of Performing Arts.

Now, the multi-award winning artist has branched off to create a sound that’s entirely her own. Fusing RnB, soul, funk and country, her work reflects on the Aboriginal Australian experience and her Gumbaynggirr heritage.
Emma Donovan first teamed up with the tight musical combo the Putbacks back in 2014. Their debut release, Dawn, picked up the prize for Best Indigenous Act and Best Soul, Funk, RnB and Gospel Album at the Victoria Music Awards.
Her spirited songwriting and impeccable voice will set the Brunswick Ballroom alight. Fans can expect an evening filled with sounds from Emma’s latest albums, Crossover and Under These Streets, as well as a few tales from her travels.
The charming Danika Smith Trio will open the night followed by a groovy instrumental set by the Putbacks before the full band comes together. Make sure to arrive early so you don’t miss out and enjoy a drink or dinner from the venue’s Ballroom Menu while you settle in.
