Stamina is throwing a Halloween rave in the tunnels beneath Flinders Street

Words by staff writer

Stamina Halloween brings three rooms of hard techno and hard bounce to the CBD on 31 October.

Spooky season peaks on a party night this year, and Stamina Halloween is celebrating inside the old banana vaults.

Stamina Halloween is a one-off themed edition of the weekly club night that’s been running underneath Flinders Street since it launched in September 2025, putting local selectors and international names in the same rooms. Doors open at 10pm and the music keeps going until 5am, with no cap on BPMs in any of the three spaces.

Melbourne producer Lola Voss headlines. Her releases have come out through Berlin label Selected, and her sets tend to straddle hard techno and hard dance. It’s a busy stretch for her, too, with a Cup Eve rave alongside BAiiN Twins at New Guernica on 2 November and a back-to-back set with Billy Currie at CORE Melbourne on 28 November.

Two tag-team sets are on the cards, as HOOKS shares the decks with PATTO and Bickeez links up with CRASH. AVA-AVA joins them near the top of the bill. Further down the lineup you’ll find Graceless Grace, miette, Jack Darcy, Bri, st.clair and CHAPPŸ, while Hodie, IMMORTEL, wintsa, PAGS and POMOS fill out the rest of the night.

Each room runs on an imported NEXO sound system, and more than three kilometres of neon lighting threads through the century-old brickwork. The venue fits over 1,000 people. Celebrating another lap around the sun? Stamina’s birthday deal gets the guest of honour in free all night, with two extra free entries and a $100 drink card available before 11pm, plus VIP line access. Tickets are non-refundable, so lock in your plans before you buy.

That banana bit is no joke. The railway viaduct overhead was built in the early 1890s to connect Spencer Street and Flinders Street stations, and the arches underneath were enclosed and split into 33 separate spaces. Fruit wholesalers from the old Western Market nearby soon moved in, stashing green bananas fresh off the boats at Queens Wharf so they could ripen in the dark. As State Library Victoria points out, those bunches carried stowaways, with spiders and snakes, plus assorted insects and rodents, hiding in the fruit and ending up in the vaults. Turns out the place had a creepy guest list long before any DJs showed up.
