Soda Boyz are making their way across the ditch to launch their latest album on Aussie shores this summer.
Aotearoa slowcore titans Soda Boyz have announced their long-awaited second album Not Boyz Anymore, alongside an extensive Australian tour kicking off this January. The announcement comes with the release of their new single Post Spa 2, available now on Bandcamp and radio.
The Te Papaioea-formed trio, consisting of Fi Carr, Josh Finegan and Jules Rosenbrook, have spent three years crafting their follow-up to 2020’s Farewell Spit. The new record, engineered by James Goldsmith and mastered by Carl Saff, showcases the band’s signature sound while exploring themes of trauma, memory, loss and transition.

While drawing comparisons to slowcore pioneers Duster and post-rock legends Slint, Not Boyz Anymore carves its own path, with the landscapes of Aotearoa leaving an indelible mark on the record’s sonic palette.
Their debut Farewell Spit earned critical acclaim, with Weirdo Wasteland praising it as “a record of ebbs, flows and stillness – imposing peaks, impossibly deep valleys and serene wide plains.”
The band’s first Australian tour in seven years will see them joined by Sydney’s Potential and Brisbane’s Craning across select dates. Beginning at Newcastle’s Hamilton Station Hotel on January 30, the 11-date run includes multiple shows in Sydney, Melbourne and regional stops in Woy Woy and Wollongong, before wrapping up at Brisbane’s Season Three on February 15.
Known for their mesmerising live performances, which The Mousai has described as “hauntingly beautiful,” Soda Boyz will be showcasing material from both albums throughout the tour. Each venue has been carefully selected to complement their dynamic range, from the intimate confines of Melbourne’s Cafe Gummo to the historic Petersham Bowlo.
Not Boyz Anymore will be available on all digital platforms from February 5, with physical formats to be announced.
