Silva Bumpa is bringing UK garage weight to The Timber Yard

Words by staff writer

Silva Bumpa is heading to The Timber Yard for one Melbourne date of UK garage, bassline and speed garage.

Presented by Untitled Group, the announcement hands Melbourne a rare look at Silva Bumpa, whose 2024 ran on a sold-out UK headline tour and slots at Glastonbury, Boomtown and Outlook. His audience has grown well beyond home since, spreading across Europe, Australia and Asia as the UK bass sound finds new ears.

The Sheffield-raised, Manchester-based producer has become one of the more dependable names in the current UKG comeback, drawing on the bassline and speed garage traditions of northern England and updating them for rooms full of people who never lived through the first wave. It’s music built for big systems: heavy sub, swung drums and hooks made to be shouted back.

That approach has been sharpened across a run of releases, among them the What About The DJ? EP on Locked On and I Don’t Want U, a link-up with Diffrnt issued through Columbia imprint Room Two. Together they’ve moved him from underground favourite to a headline booking in his own right.

Presale access opens 13 July at 9am AEST, with the general on-sale to follow 14 July, again from 9am AEST. The Timber Yard holds the single Melbourne show on 13 November, and there’s no second local date attached to this run.

His roots go back to Sheffield, where piano lessons and an early diet of Aphex Twin, Arca and Mura Masa set him on the path before garage and bassline took hold. That history feeds the sets he plays now, all weighty low end, classic club samples and the shuffle the style was built on, and the kind of pace that keeps a dancefloor moving from start to finish.

With just one date locked for Melbourne and Untitled Group behind the booking, presale on 13 July is the first window for anyone wanting in.
