Kind of brings a tear to your eye, doesn’t it – and Perth-based drum and bass destroyer Shockone’s success story is certainly one to move you. Starting off his fascination with music in a metal band with old mates Gareth McGrillen and Rob Swire from Pendulum, it was from the ashes of this ill-fated project that the group went their own ways – all fascinated by this hot new thing called drum and bass, and all fated to find their way into the international consciousness. Thomas’ experiments within the genre quickly caught the attention of the (renowned) DJ Friction, who promptly picked him up for Shogun Audio – followed by releases on Andy C’s Frequency and the mighty Viper Records, where his productions reside to this day. Last your was pretty huge for the producer – touring nationally with Karnivool, taking the helm of the latest Dubstep Invasion series, and dropped a few more killer tunes (like there weren’t enough already!).
